timbre [ tam-ber, tim-; French tan-bruh ]: 음색

1. Acoustics, Phonetics. the characteristic quality of a sound, independent of pitch and loudness, from which its source or manner of production can be inferred. Timbre depends on the relative strengths of the components of different frequencies, which are determined by resonance.
2. Music. the characteristic quality of sound produced by a particular instrument or voice; tone color.

- dark, gloomy, and cheerless.

- vague; unclear; confused: a murky statement.

e.g. Life is what goes on inside in the quiet, murky waters of our souls.

 

mirage [ mi-rahzh ]: 1. 신기루 2. 신기루 같은 것

1. an optical phenomenon, especially in the desert or at sea, by which the image of some object appears displaced above, below, or to one side of its true position as a result of spatial variations of the index of refraction of air.
2. something illusory, without substance or reality.
3. (initial capital letter)Military. any of a series of supersonic, delta-wing, multirole French fighter-bombers.

e.g. Whatever you are doing right now is mirage. It is not really what you are doing at all. It only looks like it is.

 

facade [ fuh-sahd, fa- ]: 1. (건물의) 정면 2. (실제와는 다른) 표면, 허울

1. Architecture.
- the front of a building, especially an imposing or decorative one.
- any side of a building facing a public way or space and finished accordingly.
2. a superficial appearance or illusion of something: 
They managed somehow to maintain a facade of wealth.

e.g. Each of us, underneath the facades of life, in the bottomless center of ourselves, can, if we listen, hear the sirens cry.
